Asana in Motion
Purpose
Yoga can be complicated, but it is also a simple thing, and this section of the website helps to address the practical issues that may arise when planning a class, or when doing yoga.
This is still a work in progress, so I welcome questions and suggestions. Email eightlimbedyoga@gmail.com
Yogasana Foundations - From the outside yoga can look intimidating. For beginners to yoga, this section offers some simple advice to help you initiate yourself to this practice.
Asanas Center - Here you will find dozens of yoga poses with easy to follow descriptions and pictures. Each pose is covered in some detail, with explanations of exactly how to work on the pose, as well as modifications for those not ready for the more difficult asanas, and suggested options of poses that will help anyone prepare for it.
Perhaps the most exciting and unique feature of this section is the "transitional poses chart". Click on a pose, and you will find a list of hyperlinked poses that can easily be moved into from the pose you're looking at. Particularly useful for teachers putting a flow together, this page is will give you new ideas of what poses move fluidly into each other.
Partner Yoga and Other Exercises - A number of exercises that you can use to help develop your practice. Some of these are partner exercises that allow you to develop the foundation of challenging poses before you are ready to do the pose on your own. Others are partner exercises that allow you to better feel what you're doing in a pose, or to work deeper in it. Finally there are a number of exercises that you can do on your own to better develop the more challenging aspects your practice.
Astanga Yoga - The style of yoga that makes up most of my practice. Here you will find charts for the series, as well as explanations of what each series is designed to do. And in the works: videos!
