On The Road - Journey 4

An account of our Motorcycle trip from Calgary to Far Away and hopefully Back Again

We cancelled the route through Death Valley California. It was just too hot there, around 115 degrees Fahrenheit. We were afraid of overheating. As it was, we had a long day from Tahoe to Las Vegas, arriving in the early evening. We skirted Death Valley following highway 168. It was very desolate and pretty. We stopped for a couple of pictures at a summit where it was cool. Otherwise this road was pretty warm too. Very twisty and snakey!

We started the return trip very early in the morning, leaving the heat of Las Vegas and heading north along highway 93 which will take us almost all the way to the Canadian border through Nevada, Idaho and Montana. After about 100 miles out of Las Vegas, we starting climbing in altitude and the air temperature cooled to comfortable levels.

The road travelled in valleys between the hills and mountains that marked the desolate desert. And the ubiquitous trailers that seemed to spring up in the most out of the way places!

And Gary's way of butt resting.
